Sample Map: Upper Day Creek Slough and the Skagit River, 1879-1996
A GIS -based historical mapping and analytical project was carried out for the lower Day Creek, tributary to the Skagit River, and for the Skagit in its vicinity, and for their associated sloughs, side channels, historic and overflow channels, wetlands, and uplands, Skagit County, Washington. Historical observations of channel locations (primarily aerial photography and maps and products derived from them) from 1879 to 2004 were compiled into a GIS application which captures (partially) the dynamic behavior of the study area hydrography over the last 125 years. Integration in this project of known GIS and fisheries data into a single organized reference source should prove valuable to future researchers working in the Day Creek study area. All data, maps, and other resources utilized and produced in this project are provided electronically. Each color plate and large - format map is included in in hard - copy, PDF, and ArcGIS mxd. An index.html ‘home page’ provides a single front - end to the entire project.
